Christmas with the Cardons

My dads side of the family decided to do Christmas the Sunday before, and they were not doing presents this year so all the sister-in-laws and only sister decided to do presents for each other. My dads wife wasnt going to leave me out tho and she bought me an under shirt and a really cute preggo shirt, and some cocoa butter and oil stuff that makes your stretch marks stop itching.

My little cousins decided they wanted every one to play games while they had a lot of people to play them. There was a guess how many marbles are in the jar thing, a foose ball tournament, and whack the cracker. Every one had to tie a cracker to their back belt loop, they were all armed with a paper rolled into a sword. The goal was to try to keep your cracker away from every one else whacking at it. I didnt play, but it was very entertaining to watch!
David and Austin were partners in the foose ball tournament and came in second place. I forgot who won the guessing game, but I was waaay off!

My dad and his wife decided they wanted to play another game and they provided all the prizes. There was a giant box of prizes wrapped up like white elephant gifts. Every one took a turn rolling the dice and if they added up to be a 6 you got to pick a prize. Or if there was a 6 or even 2 6s then you got a prize or two. Then you had to open it in front of every one. If there was some thing you wanted that some one else had you could steal the gift, but each item could only be stolen twice.
My first 2 rolls I got sixes and both prizes were stolen from me, one of them was a small purse with money sticking out the top. My cousin Ashlee stole it from me (we are the exact same age, and she is really competitive) so my dad stole it back from her and snuck it back to me. I ended up stealing food in the end. The best present was a cute stuffed teddy bear, one of my aunts got it, and when it came time to steal it she threw a huge fit in front of every one and wouldnt let anybody steal the teddy bear. It got a few people really upset because my cousin has a baby who is almost 1 and she and her mom wanted the bear for her, and David and I wanted it for Marlee, but no one was able to steal it from her. My dad told me later that they got the bear for a dollar at the dollar store so they were laughing the whole time every one was fighting over it. They ended up going back to get another one for my whiney cousin the next day for Christmas.

My cousins put on a little play and we sang Christmas carols, then David ran off to play with the kids (the oldest is 10 I think) the rest of the adults sat around and listened to Christmas music and danced a little.

It was also Davids b-day party from my family, he had a cake and candles. My dad has a sweater thing just like the one David is wearing in this pic, we saw my dad wearing his at one of Austins football games clear back in October and David really liked it. So when my step mom went to Mexico just recently she bought him his own and that was his b-day present.

New Years Eve

New Years Eve was also slept mostly away. I think David got up before me and cleaned the front room..I dont really remember so maybe I should blog when things happen so I can write them correctly. We hadnt made plans at all yet, I really wanted to go up to my dads friends house for a little bit. She hosts a party every year, they are all latin so they bring their latin foods. She has a dance floor in the basement with a huge stereo so after they eat all they can, they go dance it off all night! Its fun they do the limbo and force people who dont know how to salsa, to learn. Or at least try. The best part I think is to watch all the old people dancing. Ok so they arent that old, but to me they are!
Ryan who was originally planning on coming over, called and said he was going out with some girl he met once. We then decided to ride the bus up to Salt Lake and walk around temple square and the gateway and maybe see a movie. We were too hungry to wait to get to Salt Lake to eat so we decided to walk to Arctic Circle first and then maybe rent a movie. We were about a block away when I started getting really bad pains and cramps. They came and went just like I would imagine contractions would, and they HURT! Instead of turning back I just decided to keep waking, slowing down when they would come. By the time we got there the pains were just about gone and sitting down got rid of them completely!
The redbox is at the Mcdonalds which is even further than Arctic Circle and it was FREEZING but we decided to keep walking anyway. We got there and our card wouldnt work so we walked all the way up there for nothing! When we got home Ryan had called to say he chickened out and wasnt going to meet this girl after all and wanted to come over. So much for a quiet night alone for once.
He came over and we played Apples to Apples with just 3 people instead of the 4 your supposed to have. It worked out just fine and was fun all the same. We decided Mcdonalds breakfast sounded amazing so we stayed up till 6 when they start serving breakfast. David and Ryan went and I got in bed and fell asleep before they got back.
It was still relaxing to just stay home the rest of the night for New Years, even tho we didnt watch the ball drop or anything! I dont even remember looking at a clock in the 11 or 12 o clock hours, so I have no idea what we were even doing when the year switched over. Oh well!

David turns 21!

David has "been waiting his whole life for this day" so he says. He again worked a graveyard Sat night so he slept most of his birthday away. But when he finally woke up and watched the Eagles win their way into the playoffs he decided we could finally go out! Ever since we moved back to Utah last year I have been begging him to take me to eat at Famous Daves. Since I was agreeing to let him and Ryan go out later that week, he let me choose where to eat on his b-day. So Ryan, David and I headed up to Salt Lake to THE best bbq place on this planet! The ribs are amazing!! and I love the different lemonaid type of drinks they have.
After dinner, we went across the street to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It is a great movie, 3 hours long but very good. Kinda sad, but I still loved it. That was all we did for his bday, but what does he expect 3 days after Christmas!?

Christmas!

So I have not posted anything new for quite a while, just because I have not been in a very picture taking mood lately. So now you just get to read everything!! YAY!

David had to work graveyard Christmas Eve, AND Christmas day! I was so mad!! but of course, he just works when ever they want him without any complaint. We had enough to spend $100 on each other this year, I got my shopping done the first week, Braxton and Maren even helped pick out some of his stuff! David on the other hand, finished his shopping I think a day or two before Christmas. My favorite present was the necklace up there (minus the diamonds) every time the commercial would come on for them I would say how much I liked them, but him and Ryan would say oh they look like t & a.

I got David a nintendo 64 with 4 paddles and lots of games. but my favorite that I bought him is a pair of pants that he cant sag!! YAAY!! Now when he wears his new pants he cant show off his butt!!
SO the plan for Christmas was, I sleep all night till he got home from work. He would then wake me up at 6 we would open presents and maybe take a nap till 10 when we were to head off to start the festivities of the day. Did that happen??? NO!
I bought his 64 off craigslist from a little boy in salt lake, but the cords that plug it into the tv were broken. My friend was supposed to order one online for me and it didnt show up till Christmas Eve!! So Ryan took me up to her house to get it, and we just had to test it out to make sure it worked, then we wrapped it. We didnt get home till around 1 or 2 and it was snowing really bad, so Ryan decided to stay the night. We sat up with David at work for a while, I wanted to go to bed but Ryan kept me awake till 530 and I just stayed awake the rest of the time.
David came home at 6, we opened presents and stockings and played with his games for a while. When 8 came around I was a zombie!! So we took a little 2 hour nap, luckily my mom was running behind so we had a little extra time to get ready. By 11 we were out the door and on our way to brunch with my moms side of the family.
My uncle David makes scrabble every year. It is something that unless you were raised on, you wont like! Its pretty much liver, corn meal and something else I dont know I dont make it. But there were eggs and bacon and that was it! Usually they also make pancakes and french toast and the works...not this year. My grandma passed out her regiftable gifts to everyone. Mine was pretty good this year, she bought us a new waffle maker! We ended up staying there FOREVER!!
I took about an hour nap, but everyone else sat around talking and joking and just being my weird family.
We went straight from that party to my other grandmas house to see my dad. We did drop David off to take a nap tho it was around 4 I think. My grama usually does a full dinner on Christmas, but we did our Christmas party the sunday before, so no food :( My dad spoils me every year. I got new pajamas which I have prob been wearing every day since! Slippers, the game Apples to Apples. And a card with some cash in it. I was still running on 3 hours of naps so I left a little early and came home and went to bed. There was another dinner planned at 6 with my moms extended family and all the amazing food I missed at Thanksgiving...but David and I were so tired we canceled and ate frozen barritos and went to bed. He went to work and I slept the rest of the night.

Oh I forgot to put first that Christmas Eve my mom did a family dinner. She stuffed a stocking for all of us, we all got a movie. She has been saving my baby clothes from when I was little so all my Christmas presents were bags full of stuff that I wore. My favorites are my old petty coats to put under the millions of dresses she forced me into, and my blessing blanket. My great grandma crocheted it for me, so it is very special!

The day after Christmas we just sat around home and relaxed and did nothing! It was great!!
